The Fallout: UFC 145

After a great night of fights, it’s time for some fun.

Jon Jones will face Dan Henderson, but let’s have some fun guessing who everyone else will fight next.

Rashad Evans should get a match up with either Shogun, or Gustaffson. Shogun would be an obvious classic, but Gustaffson would be a step up for the young star against someone who is a top-level wrestler. If he can get past Rashad then he deserves a title shot, however if Evans wins that then he’s beaten the top young contender and is one fight out of another title shot in my opinion.

Rory MacDonald should fight the winner of GSP v. Condit; he’s that good. Since GSP is out til he decides he wants to fight again we wait. I would like to see him fight the Jake Ellenberger / Martin Kampmann winner while we wait.

Ben Rothwell and Brendan Schaub have to wait until the next event to see how the heavyweight division shakes down. I’d love to see Ben get a rematch with Cain if Cain gets past Big Foot Silva. The last fight was stopped way too early.

Michael McDonald should draw Renan Barao he proved he’s just as explosive as anyone in the division with the win over Torres and should receive a top-level fighter for his knockout performance over Torres.

Miguel Torres however will likely be reduced to the undercard or perhaps if he can put on some weight lightweight in Strikeforce. I don’t think he’s fast enough to compete with the quality Bantamweights anymore.

Eddie Yagin beat the slumping Mark Hominick but he wasn’t really impressive, I don’t like his chances to fight any top 10 guy in the division, I believe he will welcome a newcomer to the UFC in his next fight.

Hominick hasn’t been on point since the passing of Sean Thompson. I think he really needs to take some time to get in the frame of mind to fight from opening bell in round 1 not mid way through round 2.

With the lightweight division in the state of ridiculousness that it’s in I’m not even going to attempt to say who Mark Bocek fights next. He deserves a top 5 opponent to line up for a title shot, and with the background he has with UFC brass he just might get it.
