The New York Islanders offered the Columbus Blue Jackets every pick they had in the NHL Draft to move up from 4th to 2nd in the first round. Yep that’s right seven picks to move up two. I’m not a GM in the NHL but you don’t have to be anything more than a normal 12 year old to realize that would have been a horribly lopsided trade. So why would Columbus reject this massive deal? Is it because they were still butt hurt about losing out on the first pick, or was it because they really believe that Ryan Murray will be an absolute stud? It’s too early to tell right now but those picks could have been packaged to get solid proven players in other trades, so here’s to hoping Murray is outstanding. He has to out perform not only the 4th pick, but every potential outcome that the extra 6 could’ve bought.
