Chael Sonnen will make the move to Light Heavyweight and fight Forrest Griffin on December 29th. This move was completely expected by the MMA world after his second loss to Anderson Silva, due to the low likelihood he’d get a third shot.
Sonnen has always been a big Middleweight, he cuts a lot of weight for every fight and could look much more energized while not giving up size at Light Heavyweight.
I believe that Sonnen is three fights away from a shot at the championship in his new division. He’ll take on Griffin, then probably line up against Brazilians who are hungry to get their crack at him. If he makes it past Griffin, I’d like to see Shogun v. Sonnen as the title eliminator.
