Ronda Rousey is 6-0, the 135 pound women’s champion and has no need weight wise to move. Cyborg Santos is a steroid user that barely makes weight for her fights at 145 pounds.
Rousey has challenged Santos to come down 10 pounds if she wants to prove that she is really the best. Santos has now said it’s impossible.
“There really is not a safe way for me to cut to 135 pounds – not without hurting myself physically,” Santos stated. She goes on explaining a doctor’s consultation “I am less than eight percent body fat at 145 pounds, and my cardiologist and physician have advised me that to make such a drastic reduction in weight could have permanent effects on my long-term health.”
This is quite frankly bullshit. Santos wants Rousey to come up to 145 using the champions judo weight (154) as a basis.
Maybe someone needs to tell Santos that the world doesn’t care to see her fight unless it’s against Rousey. However, Rousey could fight anyone and garner attention. First off because she’s pretty, second because she hasn’t cheated.
Ronda Rousey is the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion. There’s no need for a fighter, who can get fights to change weight classes.
Cyborg is an exposed cheat. Many people have always suspected that she was doping, and only really cared when she fought Gina Carano. Cyborg wants a big fight, she needs to find a way to change her diet, loose some muscle, or find a very effective way to shed water weight. Rousey has too much to lose to come up in weight for a fight that she doesn’t even need right now.
There’s no way Carlos Condit would call for Anderson Silva, only if he came down to meet him. If Cyborg really wants Rousey, she needs to find a way. Rousey has too much to loose, throwing major weight disadvantage on top of it wouldn’t make sense for her.
