Bellator Champion Loses in Brazil

Eduardo Dantas, the Bellator bantamweight champion lost in his native Brazil. This fight, along with many other non-title fights fought by Bellator champions shows the need to keep them in only title situations.

He isn’t the first champion to lose without his title on the line, and will not be the last. This wouldn’t happen in the UFC or Strikeforce, but for some reason Bellator allows their champions to fight without their title on the line.

Bjorn Rebeny, states his fighters are the best in the world and continues to let them fight outside the promotion. This has backfired. The tournament is fun, and is a good way to find a champion. With that being said letting champs fight outside the organization is hurting more than helping and it should stop now.
