This Saturday night at UFC 153 will be Stephan Bonnar’s last fight, and who better to fight than Anderson Silva? Bonnar took this fight on late notice, as did Silva and both men vow to make this a very exciting fight. In addition to this being Bonnar’s last fight, his wife is about to give birth any day and Dana White has a private plane waiting for him to get in the second his fight ends, win or lose.
The real question is can Bonnar actually win this fight? The real answer is yes. Bonnar has never been stopped in the UFC and has a very good grappling game, something that Silva has struggled with in the past. In addition to being able to grapple he can take quite a bit of damage. With Silva looking for the finish in his home country, he might have his weaknesses exposed.
Chael Sonnen cracked Silva a couple times, and Bonnar has powerful punches. I can see Bonnar winning this fight by stoppage or decision. It’s not going to be easy for the veteran, but it is very possible. Counting out Bonnar is the smart betting line for this fight. Just remember, this guy is going to try harder than anyone to beat Silva. Last fight, baby on the way, and beating Silva would be the perfect end to any career. Don’t count Bonnar out.
If Bonnar is reading this, flying heel hook his ass.
