Well, it’s official. Michael Arndt is set to write the next Star Wars film.
Arndt has reportedly been working on a treatment of the film with Lucasfilm for several months now. Michael Arndt has written films such as Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3, and upcoming sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire.
Star Wars Episode VII is supposed to close the story of the Skywalker family, introducing a new generation of heroes and featuring appearances of Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as they reprise their respective roles. I’m assuming they will not be a large focus of the films or will stay on to mentor this new generation of characters. Only time will tell.
I don’t know about everyone else out there, but Michael Arndt seems to have worked on three movies that have gotten a lot of critical success. What does this mean? There’s a chance that Star Wars Episode VII could be added to his list of critically successful films.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are nice, but come on Harrison Ford. You better be on board too.
